Day 26 – You Change Your Mind Like A Person Changes Clothes (BECAUSE WE ALL WEAR CLOTHES)

I don’t really have anything to say tonight.  I always seem to flip flop between loving my thesis and just wanting to crawl up in a ball and pray for daylight. Let’s let the video do the talking. I clearly need sleep.

Really need to go out and have fun soon.

Things I did today instead of working:

  • Spent some After Hours time with Soren and his buddies. You always make me feel better, imaginary digital friend.

    Pretty much

  • Stared at the shower wall and considered life’s big questions… Why DID Justin have to bring sexy back? Was 2003 – 2007 a very unsexy time?
  • Deconstructed The Devil Wears Prada  so that I can use it as an example of habitus, doxa, cultural field and cultural capital. Tomorrow should be fun.
  • Missed four buses trying to get to uni. FOUR.
  • Also sleepy AGaTrois says this:

    Thanks, CH.

Thanks for the visual aid, CH.

Random creeper lyrics:

When I saw you over there
I didn’t mean to stare
But my mind was everywhere
I wanna know you

Gonna guess that you’re the kind
To say what’s on your mind
But you listen when I have something to show you

– Hannah Montana

And this is how it would really play out

Day 18 – Don’t Stop Thinking About Tomorrow(‘s Workload)

I think I’m getting burnt out. I had planned on doing so much today but feel like I accomplished very little. There really isn’t that much left to do for my milestone but I think because I’m so tired, I just can’t get my brain to work anymore. Because of that I’ll keep this blog post very short so I can try to recharge tonight.

No more.

No more.

I forgot to eat at a reasonable time again so I spent most of the day curled up on the floor with hot water bottle. A hot water bottle and a little Schirato et al. After doing a little photocopying and a little thesis drafting, I realised the stress was actually just making the stomach-ache worse so I spent the rest of the day watching Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears videos.

I will never accept this break up. Never. Ramen Noodles For Life.

I will never accept this break up. Never. Ramen noodles for life.

Oh well. Sleep time now. Big day ahead.

Things I did instead of working:

  • Watched two episodes of Saved by the Bell. I still love you Zack Morris.
  • Watched the entirety of  JT’s VMA performance, including the too-short *NSYNC reunion

    Hi! Hi! Hi!

    Hi! Hi! Hi!

  • Danced to Bump N’ Grind and hated myself for it. Perhaps I should give my media degree back.
  • Sang along to the official karaoke version of Toxic on YouTube. This is why it’s so great when the uni is empty.

Random “you make tea cosies look damn sexy” lyrics:

People are so phony
Nosy cause they’re lonely
Aren’t you sick of the same thing?
They say so and so was dating
Love you or they’re hating
When it doesn’t matter anyway
Cause we’re here tonight

If you smiling, that should set the tone
Just be limber baby
And If you let go, the music should groove your bones
Baby just remember
Sing this song with me

Day 3 – No More Talk of Marking. Forget These Wide-Eyed Fears, I’m Here.

Marking is definitely taking a toll. Brain dying. Eyes burning. So many denotations, connotations, mythologies, ideologies and discourses going ’round and ’round in my brain.

Let’s think of something else…

Basically me when I got home tonight

Basically me when I got home tonight

Nope. I got nothing. Oh well, just a few left tomorrow. I think I’ll use this exhaustion as an opportunity to go to sleep early for once.

Also this weather is killing me. It’s like living in a universe constructed by The Smiths. I just want the sun to come back. So please, please, please, let me, let me, let me, get what I want this time…

Things I did today instead of working:

  • Listened to the *NSYNC/Bieber ‘Girlfriend’/’Boyfriend’ mashup in the office with CH. My jam.
  • Snapchatted MT various lip-syncing videos. I had to respond to his ‘Hold On We’re Going Home’ video in order to show him that he was doing it wrong. If you’re gonna do Drake hands, you gotta do it well.
  • Seriously, I worked really hard today. I have nothing else to confess.

Random royal pop lyrics of the day:

All of these things people told me
Keep messing with my head
Should’ve picked honesty
Then you may not have blown it

Day 0 – It’s Gonna Be May

Today marks the first (possibly last, let’s be honest) time I write in this postgrad blog. Starting from tomorrow, I have exactly 365 days to churn out a thesis about television. Justin Timberlake’s manic face will serve as a reminder for this upcoming deadline and hopefully, terrify me into getting my work done.

I have now been given the key to the office I will share with CH and NW. While I intended to get some marking done (as I often promise myself when I wake up in the morning) I, of course, spent the day setting up all the social media I will require for my thesis. It’s totes relevant guys, I promise.

It is also the 10 year anniversary of Mean Girls today so this morning I spent and hour or two looking for something pink to wear. It is Wednesday, after all. After putting on my tiered skirt and fuzzy pink jersey, I realised I pretty much look exactly like I usually do every other day of the week. Perhaps it’s time to reevaluate my regular fashion decisions since I apparently still dress like a 14 year old from the mid-2000s.

I look forward to sharing this journey with you, faceless Internet people. But only when I have nothing better to do than to sit here and talk about myself.

Things I did instead of working:

  • Picked out movies I have no intention of watching from The Glass Room
  • Set up this blog and a new Twitter account because I was getting FOMO from all the Facebook people who use Twitter but not so bad that I want to link them to my other account.
  • Looked for inspirational photos of Henry Jenkins that I can sigh longingly at while I write about TV and New Media
  • Thought about how much better Peeta is for Katniss. He was the right choice.
